2021 Toyota Camry’s safety features for pedestrians and cyclists
The new 2021 Toyota Camry Safety Suite is making progress towards better identifying bicyclists and pedestrians. With a bold new look and comfort-oriented interior, next year’s model is sure to catch your eye and keep you coming back for more. Check out the newest safety features and impressive additions to the always reliable Toyota you’ve come to trust.
Safety Features
All 2021 Camry models come with the new Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+, the newest version of the driver assist technology that includes the groundbreaking automatic emergency braking system. The Safety Sense 2.5+ includes an advanced ability to better recognize pedestrians and cyclists, helping curb the need for a bicycle accident attorney, as well as an all new adaptive cruise control overtake feature that boosts speed while switching lanes.
This brand-new Camry will also alert the driver of potential dangers at intersections and other drivers potentially braking for left turns. With pedestrian related car accidents and deaths on the rise, the updated Safety Sense 2.5+ offers the ability to detect a preceding bicyclist or pedestrian during the daytime as well as in low-light conditions.
Audio and visual cues alert the driver to potential obstructions and could potentially enable the automated braking system, according to Toyota. The push to make the streets safer for pedestrians is one shared by many companies, but it’s the Camry leading the charge.
Additional Safety Features
Since 2017, Toyota has been the groundbreaking force in the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) System. With five years of pioneering enhanced safety for the consumer, it’s no surprise the Camry is the leading the pack.
In addition, the Toyota Camry Safety Suite comes with additional Pre-Collision System functions that include emergency steering assist. This technology stabilizes the driver’s emergency steering maneuvers so they can safely stay in their own lane. This feature will also help protect pedestrians, cyclists, and other vehicles.
The Toyota Camry also offers the option to include Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), a system designed to control distance from vehicle to vehicle above 30 mph. The DRCC also has a new cruise control feature that increases speed when passing a car traveling slower than your preset, allowing you to easily overtake them.
Lane Departure Alert notifies the driver by steering wheel vibration or sound alert if it senses the car leaving the lane without using a turn signal. Once DRCC is engaged, Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) will help center the vehicle in its lane using the road’s markers or a preceding vehicle.
Automatic High Beams, Road-Side Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Cross Traffic Alert all offer the driver additional safety and peace of mind. It’s a lot of promising technology wrapped into one car. Provided everything goes as planned at launch and on the road, this is one car that California lemon law attorneys won’t have to worry about.
