5 Principles of Purposeful Leadership
5 Principles of Purposeful Leadership
The five principles of purposeful leadership in business according to pain management specialist Jordan Sudberg.
Although there is no one specific action a leader takes or any particular type of leadership style, there are some common principles. On this list, Sudberg presents five of the most important ones.
1. Create a vision
They say that persistence pays off. But, in this case, perseverance without direction is just a waste of time and energy. To be successful in reaching a goal, one needs to know what he wants to achieve. Sometimes people do not even know what they are trying to accomplish, which is why they are not getting any results.
2. People must come first
If people’s purpose is to get rich, they will be making all of their decisions from the perspective of how to acquire wealth and money. This is not a good idea. Successful business owners are concerned about serving their customers, not cultivating their profits. They are focused on helping people advance more in life than they were the day before. They want an “increase” in their well-being and those around them without recourse to financial gain or ego gratification (all these can come later). They know that their success rely on the success of others. They are in business to give, not to get. And they make sure that everyone around them understands this essential component of their purpose.
3. Be disciplined
Have a purpose before you start your business. It is very important to have a purpose behind your actions. A clear purpose will enable people to focus on what is most important in their life, which is doing well by others. If you know why you are in business, you will be able to do it better and more effectively. A purpose can help guide one in searching for an ideal manager, product, or service.
4. Be committed
After choosing to move forward on the path to purposeful leadership, it is important to remain true to the vision created. Keeping an eye on the big picture and the purpose is crucial to success. Many people give up when things become challenging. Successful leaders never let anything stop them from reaching their goals. They endure, and they persevere. If, at first, they don’t succeed, they try, try and try again until they finally do succeed. The fourth principle says:
5. Serve
Once committing to something, be willing to make sacrifices for it. It is not easy being an entrepreneur or business owner. Make certain sacrifices to achieve desired goals. If people expect others to sacrifice for their success, they must also be willing to do the same for themselves. Be ready to make sacrifices for the sake of others. Be willing to give what people need. Sacrifice so that others can live a better life. Strive to serve others’ needs and make their lives better. Inspire them and help them in any way possible. No one is too good for this. Everyone has something to contribute that other people in need can benefit from. Jordan Sudberg believes that the only way people can find success is to have passion for what they do.
