Varied Clothing
Assuming you’re going to Mexico outside of the infamous raining season, chances are that you’re in for sunshine for the majority of your trip. However, you never know when you might get the occasional drizzle or a colder evening. Make sure that you bring at least one light sweater for your comfort.
It’s also helpful to be ready to dress to impress for any sort of event. Whether you’re hanging out drinking margaritas on the beach, or headed to an upscale dinner. Pack a pair of nice pants or a dress in addition to your beachwear!
A Neck Wallet
Unfortunately, pickpocketing is a real thing in Mexico and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. Keeping your valuables in your back pocket or in your purse hanging off your shoulder could be inviting thieves to attack.
The best way to carry your credit cards and passport is around your neck. Not only will it keep you safe from pickpockets, but it also makes navigating the airport much easier than digging through your carry-on.
Mosquito Repellant
Dios Mio! Mosquitos are no joke in Mexico. Not only will they leave you itchy and red, but they can even carry nasty viruses that could leave you bed-ridden for the duration of your trip. Do yourself a favor and bring mosquito repellant with you. If you want to buy it there, you can always find it in a Farmacia, but it’s helpful to have it ready to go before you have the chance of being bitten.
Activated Charcoal
If you’ve never heard of Montezuma’s revenge, then let’s hope you never get acquainted. Mexico isn’t known for having the best drinking water in the world, so don’t take your chances.
If you have the unlucky opportunity of eating or drinking something that’s contaminated, you could be in for days of vomiting and diarrhea, Do yourself a favor and bring activated charcoal pills. Taking a few at the first signs of stomach troubles will absorb the toxins and keep you feeling peppy for the remainder of your vacation.
